Day Care Program
We offer four unique day care programs for parents to choose from. The Child Care Professionals in each program are educated in Early Learning and Child care, and consider each individual child’s needs when planning the daily schedule in each of our day care programs.
Our day cares provide children an opportunity to socialize with each other as they learn through play.
Our staff participate in ongoing training and education in early Learning and Child Care, have First Aid training, and must pass a thorough screening process.
As preschool education centers, our day cares provide a balance between quiet and active times, group and individual time, activities that promote cognitive development and gross and fine motor experiences.

Woodlea Day Care:
Woodlea Day Care is an accredited center located across from Lindsay Thurber High School. We are licensed for 34 children, aged 12 months to 6 years. Woodlea is a cozy family oriented center which provides two snacks per day, with parents supplying lunch for their child.
Woodlea has a bright and welcoming environment , with qualified staff who follow the Learn through Play Philosophy. Woodlea is located in an area which has a variety of parks and trails and we are able to utilize the outdoor nature playground at Kerry Wood Nature Center. We have a partnership with Camille J. Lerouge school next door, where we walk the children to and from Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten.
From all the staff here at Woodlea… we look forward to meeting you!
Normandeau Day Care:
Normandeau Daycare is located on the south side of Normandeau School and was opened in 1982. It is fully accredited by the Alberta Association for Accreditation of Early Learning and Care Services.
As educators for little people we believe in learning through play at a “home away from home” and offer a range of activities that support children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development. With large open spaces, children are encouraged to move and explore their interests. The daycare also offers two snacks and a nutritional lunch that is home made on site.
Normandeau Daycare is an inclusive program and welcomes all children regardless of gender, race or ability. The daycare is also partnered with Normandeau School and will transport children from pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes to our centre. We invite children from the age of 19 months to 6 years old (through kindergarten) to come and learn through play with us.
Johnstone Day Care was obtained by Red Deer Child Care in February 2008. Located in Johnstone Park on the north side of Red Deer, this full time day care program is fully accredited by the Alberta Association for Accreditation of Early Learning and Care Services, and is licensed for 54 children.
Johnstone Daycare is a Reggio Emilia inspired center for early childhood education. The daycare explores child led learning in an environment conducive to exploration through nature, our dispositions, the child’s interest, natural inquisitions, and sense of wonder
The educators at Johnstone Daycare work with children ages 0 through 5 or until they are ready to go to kindergarten. Our preschool aged room offers parents a means by which to help prepare their children for kindergarten without having to transport them to and from a different preschool setting.
Johnstone Daycare has a cook who makes meals based on a 6 week rotating menu which follows the Canada Food Guide and was created by a nutritionist. Two snacks and a lunch are provided to children daily.
Pines Daycare :
Pines Daycare was created by Red Deer Child Care in November 2017. Located in the Pines Elementary school this daycare has the potential to grow based on need. Pines is working towards becoming a Reggio Emilia inspired center for early childhood education. Through child led exploration, children at the Pines are able to co-imagine possibilities and develop meaningful relationships with their educators and peers. Pines Daycare currently accepts children ages 1 through 5 or until they are ready to go to kindergarten. Pines provides to children, a morning and afternoon snack and parents are required to provide a lunch daily. All snacks provided to children follow the Canada Food Guide.
Pines Day Care, part of Red Deer Child Care, is excited to have been named one the 100 new Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Centres across Alberta.
